POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Sales Director  is responsible for providing commercial leadership for Flexan, an Ingersoll Rand business. The role will act as the primary driver of business strategy and direction as it relates to this business including market strategy, , commercial footprint, incentives and organizational structure as well as M&A. In addition to their global commercial responsibilities, this critical leadership position will instill ownership and accountability for the performance of Silicone & Rubber Components segment of the Flexan business by driving a harmonized approach between Commercial, Operations & Quality to drive the Flexacution Flywheel. In aggregate this leader will be responsible for growing the global Flexan business at above-market rates (10+% CAGR).

POSITION OBJECTIVE: 
The Sales Director will be responsible for setting the “True North” for the business and aligning the rest of the organization to this vision. Furthermore, this leader will be responsible for driving the execution of the strategic direction of the business through cross-functional teams working toward the same mission.

The Sales team for the entire business will report directly into this role. The leader will be responsible for outlining the appropriate focus, organizational structure and incentive plans to drive organic growth centered around our differentiated core capabilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides strong leadership and guidance to the Sales Team within the Flexan organization.
  • Collaborates with Engineering & Operations leaders to ensure our technologies and processes are matched to the market opportunities available. Recommend enhancements across the business in the various processes that affect our ability to win, including (but not limited to) quoting, prototyping, project management, customer service / inside sales and manufacturing.
  • Capable of communicating effectively at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally with customers. Builds lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Establishes a culture of sales excellence and high standards across the organization, starting with key focus areas for our global teams to fully leverage the growth potential of this business.
  • Great collaborator who brings the various organizations involved along for the journey of developing a growth strategy for this business, while improving employee engagement.
  • Creates a repeatable, defined process with appropriate metrics and KPIs to track progress against and measure organic growth outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively with all cross functional leaders that interact globally to ensure the right customer-centric behaviors are driven at every level of the organization.
  • Continually identifies market trends and opportunities for organic and inorganic growth. Works closely with President on identification and execution of M&A opportunities.
  • Use Customer Scorecards, ABRs and other metrics to continually improve our standing with key global customers to ensure we continue to feed the Flexacution Flywheel.
  • Mentor Talent across the organization and build a pipeline for great leaders at Ingersoll Rand, including within the Catheters & Access Devices business within Flexan. Drive consistency of process and metrics across the Flexan business
  • Demonstrates both a process approach and data driven decision making to systematically and objectively improve company performance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor of Science degree program in Science or Engineering preferred
  • 10+ years’ experience in Sales, Business Development with a proven track record of winning in the marketplace
  • Medical Device Contract Manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (40%+).  Position requires travel to the manufacturing sites in the network, as well as customer site visits
  • Proven successful ability in the following areas:
  • Business Strategy Development & Execution in a technical business
  • Talent Management and development, especially in Sales & Business Development
  • Customer engagement in driving customer delight and satisfaction
  • Leadership of direct reports at various levels of the organization including management and cross-functional leadership across a business
  • Using data analytics to drive decisions as well as accountable ownership of improvements
  • Must behave in a professional manner at all times; ability to use appropriate levels of tact, diplomacy, and discretion 
  • Demonstrated strong time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to resolve conflicts; work well under pressure, act quickly and decisively using sound judgment
